Description: This pattern is an asymmetrical lacy-look poncho. The poncho’s two hanging triangular sections are different sizes, so that the longer or shorter size can be reversed and worn either to the front or back. It’s very practical for a number of different looks or temperatures. The design is based upon an eyelet theme, with 9-11 different colors. It is made from all fingering weight yarn, mini-skeins, of `100 yards each. (As shown in the picture, Pendragon yarn.)
About the Designer & Event: This pattern was created for the Fiber Art Studio Tour; a Maryland based yarn and fiber indie-dye artist and fiber farmer studio tour. The Pembrokeshire Poncho was the featured pattern in 2018 and was produced by Karen of Avalon Springs Farm working in conjunction with designer, Linda Minnick of Mid Valley Fibers. Karen and Linda were good yarnie friends; Karen carries a lot of Linda’s patterns, designs, and sample knits in her shop in Mount Airy, MD. For this event we collaborated on a concept and drawings, and Linda created the pattern. Linda has been involved with textiles her whole life, and has worked in this cottage industry at so many levels – teacher, designer, mill-worker, yarn shop sales person, and had a number of leadership roles in local groups and guilds. Her talent is amazing!
