Under the Misteltoe Bolero

This pattern makes a cable knit headband.

Description:  The bolero is a merge between a cropped waist jacket, vest and shrug.  It comes from dress associated with Spanish bull-fighting in the 1850’s and 60’s.  Our bolero boasts a cropped waist, mock sleeves and an open front, all very much in keeping with the tradition.  This is an accent piece perfect to slip over something fancy or wear with blue jeans and a t-shirt.  Directions include instructions for 4 sizes.  (In our photos- Green is large and Silver is small.)

About the Designer:  Sue Caldwell, known well to knitters in Baltimore MD, as she was the original owner of Lovelyarns. Sue immediately makes all feel welcome and included in whatever knitting activity or creative endeavor is happening. She currently is doing “Make Me” kits. Sue held several shows at the shop annually, participated in many celebrate Baltimore events, was an avid fiber educator and designer. Recently retired from Lovelyarns, she is continues to knit as she travels, enjoys family, and creates joy wherever she goes!

Skill Level:  This is an Intermediate pattern.  Requires some forethought about sizing and gauge; please knit a swatch first for your gauge.  Lace knitting, but a large area of repeats.

Materials & details:

Suggested Yarn/material:  Originally knit with Avalon Springs Farm, Excalibur – farm yarn with a sparkle ply.  Could be knit in any number of sport weight yarns, with our without the sparkle.  One 4 oz skein for smallest size and 2 for the remaining 3 larger sizes.
