Annual “Sweet Sale”

The Farm Chicks are putting on their annual Sweet Sale.

We are, myself, Karen of Avalon Springs Farm, and Lisa of Flying Goat Farm and Dalis of Dancing Leaf Farm. We are all located in central Maryland about a 20 minute drive from each other. We are all separate indie dye artists and long time fiber farmers. When we bond together as the “Farm Chicks” we put on fun events and doing things together. For several years, but particularly in 2020 we have been holding in-person events on our farms each month, and we open our studio, shops, and backyards to visitors. We pick a theme inspiration photo and then we all dye yarn in our own special ways and reveal what we’ve made to everyone and each other.

The Sweet Sale is an annual event going on for many years at Dancing Leaf and in the last number of years with myself and Lisa too. The idea is that – we all love love love our yarn! And, it is Valentines Day weekend! So, once a year in the quietest time of shows and festivals, we invite you over and put out lots of chocolate and yarn on sale.

This year the pandemic is a factor, so each stop will have hand sanitizer before you go in and squish all the yarn; we will only let 2 in or one car load of people in to view the shop at a time, for social distancing, and we will all require masks.

Our Sweet Sale is February 13th from 11 am – 3 pm, for the in-person part. At 4 pm we will hold a virtual piece – the Happy Hour Zoom. Each month we have been inviting a knitting, crochet, fiber enthusiast group or guild. This month is Fibernate of Northern Virginia. A wonderful group full of knitters, spinners, and lots of friendly people. However, even if you’re not in this group, please feel most welcome to join in.

We are realizing we may have a weather complication, so here is our plan:

Friday at 10 am, the Farm Chicks will meet, assess the current weather conditions and make a call about the in-person part.

We will hold the zoom regardless. If we can’t have an in person sale, we will provide coupons in the zoom, and we will do our yarn colors reveal in zoom. To get the zoom link, please sign up for my email blast, or feel free to contact me directly.
