Colorway: Black Cat
This is a natural fiber color that was pickle dyed to obtain a more true black. In Peru, they used to offer this color naturally, but there is too much demand on breeding and animals to offer it up consistently on such a large basis. The alpacas that are this dark are only a percentage of the herd and often their fiber dosen’t stay totally black at every shearing sometimes age and the environment can make change. The pickle dye work it only to add a light film of black over some of the grey in the fiber. This is a nicely black black yarn.

Description:
This is a super soft sport weight yarn of 100% alpaca fiber. We are under the impression that it is almost entirely Huacaya, however, there may be some Suri, particularly in certain colors, i.e. black. Its a fluffy two ply, with surprising memory as alpaca usually has a lot of drape and less memory. Yet it is also strong. A very nice combination. Again, incredibly soft! You’ll love it.
Tradesman Yarn:
This is made from alpaca’s on farms in the Peruvian highlands. It is thought throughout the world that the Peruvian Highland alpaca is the best in the world. The climate contributes the to production of ultra soft alpaca fiber. Alpaca’s come in a significantly large and yet distinguishable array of natural colors. These colors are reflected here, with two exceptions, the color “Snow” has been processed and bleached white to a non-natural white, and Karen does dye some of these yarns as well (they’ll be obvious or marked as hand-dyed).
