This was a really awesome year at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention some of the highlights and make some thank yous!
Maryland has its fair share of unpredictable weather; this February we had multiple days in the 70’s and this May we have had a number of nights that hit frost. The Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival is always the first weekend in May. Usually that means really sunny and mild weather, sometimes even hot, but not this year. This year it was cold, windy and rainy.
My family had a wonderful time. My kids are huge fans of Nancy Starky’s Sheep Dog Trials Demo. They also palled around with our shear’s family. Each child came back to the booth with neat buttons, pendants and sheep specialties. My husband got his fill of mutton, chevron, and BBQ (and other cool things he always tries). My dear friend and fiber career collaborator, Caroline from Fibernate came and volunteered in my booth on Saturday – a huge help. It is always an amazing experience!
Cheers to all those that came out… March on Knitters, Spinners, Felters, Crocheters, and Fiber enthusiasts! They all came out, with their wellies on and wearing their latest sweater, hat, and scarf projects!
I absolutely love seeing things that my customers have made with my yarn. It is really so affirming of the pursuit of this art and craft. I love what I do, and knowing that others enjoy it is just best.
As you can see, it was a cover your nose and cover your toes kinda weather weekend. But, oh so darn good! Good for friends, fun, and lots of yarn!
