This weekend, October 10th from 10 am ’till 5 pm will another Farm Chicks open studio event for local yarn shoppers.
The farm chicks are Karen (me) of Avalon Springs Farm, Dalis of Dancing Leaf Dyeworks, and Lisa of Flying Goat Farm. During the permitted time by Gov. Hogan during the pandemic we have been holding very small open studio days to shop locally for our yarns as there are no larger festivals or events.
This one is called “S’mores, Yarn and more”. We all used the lead photo for this post as our color inspiration photo. So, we will all have yarn colorways dyed on this theme. Also, we will all have an outdoor space with a fire going.
The event is held in all three studio spaces – I will be at my farm in Mount Airy, MD as Dancing Leaf is in Barnesville and Flying Goat is in Frederick. Each of us will require masks, we will have a way to wash hands/use hand sanitizer and social distancing is required in order to shop. Each location handles that part customized to their shopping space. However, since only one or two shoppers are permitted to be with the yarn at any one time, we will all have a space to socially distance knit, spin, or crochet should the need arise for someone to wait their turn. This time it will be fireside. At my location, I will set up my “Backyard Booth” as I have come to call it.
