This weekend, June 3rd and 4th from 11 am to 5 pm each day, is the First Annual Maryland – Fiber Arts Studio Tour!
What is this you ask?
We are 11 Indie-dye artists that are opening to the public our local studio spaces. This is a free self guided tour, There are actually 9 stops, as two of our artists are on the buddy system. Each stop on the tour will be unique – urban, suburban, and rural. Some are part farm, some part traditional retail, some you will see dye pots and pans in the background.
To plan your driving route visit us on Facebook.
We have an interactive map, with small Yarn Ball Pins.
What is special for you?
We have planned out a Free (for 10 days) Celebrate Maryland FAST Shawl Pattern. The pattern is created with 8 mini skeins that you can get like a souvenir along your way. The mini skeins were created on two Maryland color themes: MD Beaches and MD Mountains. So, mix and match and pick to your delight. Then we will host a Knit-A-Long on Ravelry in the FAST Group.

Be a tourist and take a chance:
Each artist donated a particular item from their shop. When you arrive at your first stop on the tour you can pick up a passport. Then get a sticker at every stop you visit. Drop it off for collection at your last stop and we will draw out a winner.
What binds us all together:
Primarily it is that we are all producing something genuinely and by hand. You will see lots of different color pallets and sensibility. You will see lots of different kinds of yarn, roving and fiber. We all take our skill and craft seriously; we all delight in your enjoyment. Other than that, I think we are all pretty different.
The Avalon Springs Farm stop:
We will be inside our space at the art & craft co-op (305 S. Main Street, Mount Airy). Outside we have excellent parking and local restaurants. Weather permitting we will do a spinning demo on the front porch. We will bring extra baskets full of yarn and roving for the event. Stop in we know you’ll love it.
